mosty directed to joel.. i looked under the hood the other day and saw a sticker with vehicle inifo in it that stated cam timing BTDC at 5 degrees +,-3. i am guessing that timing has a total limim of 6 degrees over all but what does the B stand 4 as i also know the rest is "top dead center". Clay

I would guess that's ignition timing, not cam timing... but read sticker closely!

was thinking it was before or beyond. just curious as to what the b stood for. Clay

so then we have quick burn combustion chambers right?

Never heard that term... beats calling it fireball!! I don't think there's much unusual about the design of these engines, the head configuration from the pics I'd call a pent-roof, Chrysler would call it a Hemi... so I would guess that any high turbulence chamber design would be 'fast burn'. What you gettin into?

i hope not. hemi was one of the hardest engines to tune for boost and racing. basicaly needing the plugs to fire at 35 degrees btdc to get the burn to occur at the optimal 14 degrees atdc. i forgot though that the 5 degrees btdc was at idle sonot really sure if it is a fast burn or not. the later u can hold off the spark the more efficent and less chance u have of pre ignition which will just blow the engine. I am trying to learn a little more of the technical stuff that i am doing/ having done to my truck. been reading the 3SI web page to get a better grasp on what all is going to be going on in my engine when i get the cams and the nos in next month. clay
