Ok I am moving to Fairbanks Alaska for 4 months in January and need a realiable vechile for offroad use as well as good on ice and snow and am thinking of taking my 95 Montero LS with me. Currently it needs a new engine but thats it. I am thinking of buying a new engine, raising it, putting on some big snow tires, and some other mods. Can you guys recomend any outfitters or shops that woul dbe able to help me with this project? Any help would be great.
Thanks CC

You didn't give a lot of info. Unless you're going to do the work yourself, you'd be better off buying a vehicle that's already had this work done.
If you have some time and desire, you can do a lot of it yourself.
But find a reputable machine shop. Let them do the build. Pull the motor, take it into them, and then wait. When they're done, put it back in. It's really not hard. With these trucks, the worst is probably trying to get the motor out of the bay (if you have limited ceiling height). It might not be a bad idea to pull the wheels and drop the front a bit.
Be prepared to spend some dough. Machine work is not cheap, and it shouldn't be. Not if they are doing it right. It looks like you're in Columbus. The guys at Jegs might be able to refer you to someone. I'm up here in Akron, and I have a great shop that did my Vette's motor. If you don't mind the 2 hour drive, they could help you out. Check my website, if you want more info on machine shop costs.
Good luck with it!
