Just when my gears are about to change I am hearing a rattling noise, I usually only hear this at higher RPM's or it is just noticable at this time. Anyone else run into this problem?

MonteroTS,
It depends on the year and model line of your truck, but there is an old service bulletin regarding a rattle coming from the exhaust system to due a broken weld inside the muffler. I believe this affect 97 w/ V6 and some 98's

TS,
Does the truck have to be in gear to reproduce the noise? Have you tried revving the engine slowly from idle to about 5k rpms while in park?

Yes it has to be in Gear, I tried reving the engine and I didnt hear the rattle. My trans doesnt slip or anything and there isnt any noticable difference in the performance of my truck.
