Ok Joel, got another question for you (or anyone else that might know).
I dont know if im lucky or lied to, but the first junkyard I called said they had a 99 XLS 3.0 with the factory locker on the rear. I've got the 98 LS 3.0 auto and i want to go get that axel and put it in my truck. Is it possible? Are the gear ratios the same? Suspentions the same? How is the locker actuated and can i link it up in my rig? The auto yard wants $850 for the axel and he said he'll leave all the break stuff on there too as an added bonus. Is that a good deal?
I talked to the mitsu parts department and they said just the factory locking diff by itself was $2321!!!! so i desided that a junkyard might be a better option. The yard said they cant sell just the diff, but i dont know if that would even work in the diff case i've got now. Also, how can i tell what gear ratios i've got in my truck. Were they pretty standard in this year/engine/trany combo?
Ok, so that was more like a dozen questions, but I'm kinda excited about this axel and i want to put it in.
As always, thanks in advance! Chris in New Mex

I thought the Montero Sport air locker went away in 98. Since then they've been going with Hybrid LSD's ...not sure
