I've actually found a solution to this problem.i used the Energy Suspension polyurethane bushing to replace it, all I had to do was cut it in half.I used a socket to drive it in the shaft and drilled a hole to insert the pin back in.The hardest part was removing the pin I'm the first case to remove the left over ball pieces.

Had the same issue when I first bought my MS 3.5XS. I went to engage the 4wd correctly and it wouldn't disengage to go back into 2wd. Come to find out the shiftage linkage was bad from the previous owner. I lucked out and had it fixed for free lol
