Last few weeks noticed that battery was loosing some juice and this morning.... It was dead! I was reading through old posts for suggestions on brands of replacement battery’s and came across a couple posts for people needing to program OEM Keyless Entry remotes. I purchased a replacement, and Mitsu tried to charge me $150 to program later found out that 2000 not sure if other years can be programmed without Mitsu scan tool.... Just do the following:
-Underneath your drivers side dash you have a DLC (Data Line Connector)
-Notice how the DLC is tapered on both ends: you will be working with the top or wider row of cavities.
-Insert keys in ignition and leave in the off position.
-Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 1 and 4 and connect the Data Line Connecter terminal 1 to 4 with a suitable jumper wire (paperclip works great).
-Within 10 seconds after connecting the jumper wire, turn the ignition switch to the ACC position and then back off for 1 second Repeat 2 times. (let me stress so you as soon as you connect the jump wire in terminal 1 and 4 you must immediately turn the key to ACC then OFF repeatedly 3 times, if you do it to slow or miss up then you must start all over by removing the paperclip and starting the process again)
-Press the Lock or Unlock button on the transmitter to be registered three times within 10 seconds. Upon successful programming the door will lock and unlock once.
-If there are 2 transmitters, register the first, the register the second using the same procedure within one minutes. After completing the second programming the doors will lock and unlock once
-Disconnect the programming wire (paperclip) and remove keys from ignition.
And your done.....If you need help let me know.
