Tomorrow I am going to attempt to install a subwoofer in my MS 2002. A few questions I have follow: 1) What (where?) is the best way to hide the power/RCA wires? 2) Do I need to make a hole in the firewall for the power wire? Or is there already a hole I should use? Thanks in advance, hopefully tomorrow I'll have the answers before I start.

run your power wire through the factory grommet from the battery. you might have to cut a slit in the rubber if the current wires take up all the space. work the wire in there, reach behind the fuse box for it and just pull the slack out. now you take your sill plates off. thats the plastic trim at the floor by the seats. take them off all 4 doorways. this will alow you to lift the carpet up and run wire under it. you'll have to snap off the seatbelt hider plastic thingy as well but that's easy. run your power on the battery side(duh) and your RCA's and remote wire on the other side. this is to prevent noise. if your sub and amp are bought new, i hope you wired them correctly. if not, you'll know. keep your gain, x-over, and bass boost down so you dont clip signals.. don't be a dummy and turm em all up thinking you're gonna look cool cuz in about 5 min, you will turn the sub into a POS.

Although blinginlilwhodi already mentions this- i'll need to emphasize it more..... Be sure you go through the factory grommet. Dont just push the grommet aside using the same hole! Eventualy over time, the vibration will allow the firewall (bulkhead) to rub through insulation of your wiring and cause a short (i've seen this cause a fire). If you go through the factory grommet, the rubber grommet will prevent that from happening! The grommet has more than enough room to accomadate the main harness and your power cable provided your using high quality flexible cable (I'm running 4 gauge power cable to my amps). Also...don't forget the fuse or magnetic circuit breaker (preferably less than 12" away) at the battery positive AND if you split this cable to your amps, to have each split fused as well!

Another good hint is that in my 97' sport i used the clips that hold the insulation on the back of the firewall to hold the power wire, the clips bend easily, just don't bend them to much, i also run 4 guage. I alos used some good silicone on the hole around the power wire that i pushed through the grommet, just added protection . Also underneath the carpet on the passenger side i ran the power wire under neath the factory metal shroud that holds down the wire harness.
