Hey there, I took the custom idea from dru01teroxls so I can't really claim this idea as my own. I have to give him credit for giving me the idea and getting me started on where to find the parts. I just thought some of you would be interested in seeing my version of my custrom short-ram intake. I did not have the luck of finding the correct MAF adapter plate. It was a toss-up between three on eBay that MIGHT work, so I chose the "universal" one. Then paid for the consequences of having to fab my own adapter plate between the MAF adapter and MAF sensor. I did find an eBay dealer who fabricates custom aluminum MAF adapters that look real nice. I might order one from him. His seller id is... bettermpg Anywho...here are some pictures and a video of me revving it up after cleaning out my throttle body. specter makes two adapters a 3inch and a 4 inch, you can buy them at pep boys, not real expensive

oreillys has them that fit perfectly for 10 bucks. and they are made out of aircraft aluminum. I just cleaned my spectra air filter and it went pretty smooth:) I have the blue one as well except I use a 4 inch straight peice and a 60 degree to hook it up.

i did mine on my es 4cyl and im chugging at 3500 to 4000rpm but after 4-6500 its fine again.....maf issues? maybe bad seal around maf??? what do you guys think? or maybe the hose is too big on vaccuum line??

it wasnt the vaccuum line, i just bought an adapter fitting to hook up to the stock hose and run the vaccuum line to new CAI, gonna pull off maf and maf adapter and seal the 2 together and clean the maf

i put some rtv around the maf adapter and maf to seal it up, mounted the bracket, and i forgot to remove that stupid screen thing inside the maf, pulled it out, reset computer, she is running pretty good now, some idle issues when you come down off load for a second but maybe once the comp maps it out itll run better, sounds pretty sick, uploading videos to youtube and ill post pics, for a $20.50 intake for a 97 accord, $8 for a spectre 3" to 3" coupler, a $15 maf adapter, and few bolts and nuts and a hose fitting adapter, i got maybe $60 wrapped up in it and no major issues yet. the injen intake is $211, you do the math.....

i got rid of the CAI setup on the 4 cylinder, was drawing too much air and throwing check engine lights, however, i put the box and snorkel back in but reused my MAF adapter and cone filter and truck definately seems to run alot stronger and MPG gained by about 2.5-3mpg, and the elec fan gained about the same so i went from 300mi/tank to 360 mi/tank

It was my first time installing an intake and I would consider myself a "noob" when it comes to all thing mechanical. It should have been easy, but since it was 20 degrees outside when I was trying to installit, the rubber wouldn't work with me and it was a pain to fit it on. But once I took the rubber inside and warmed it up, it went on without a problem.
I can tell a difference in HP....probably only a gain of 5-10. But I can feel it in the low rpms, which is nice.

didn't want to start a new thread but do any of you guys that have done this mod notice a whistling sound when driving?
i recently did this mod and noticed a whistling sound only when driving at 2,700-3k rpm
just want to make sure its not just me losing vacuum pressure
