???Hello I have a question about plugging something into the cigarette lighter and at the same time the 12 volt power outlet in the rear of my MS or in the front mounted in the center console. When I do this my theft alarm goes off. After the dealer had it for a few hours they said that there was nothing that they could do for me because it was a problem that they did not know how to fix. Can this be true? Thanks for everybody’s time.

I have not had that problem with the radar detector (cig lighter) and either a cell phone or tire pump plugged into the console outlet at the same time with my '01 MS. Of course, I don't have a theft alarm...but apparently I have a "panic mode alarm", not documented in the manual.
Cheers, Stod

Sorry to say but your service department must be full of . This is a very common problem and can be caused by 2 different situation. 1- there can be a coin or some other metal object stuck inside of the center console 12v outlet- repair requires removing object. 2. One of your fuses is blown causing the theft alarm to back feed through the accesory outlets circuit. I forgot which fuse for you to check...I'll look at the techtalk article tomorrow and get back to you! JOel, CA
