We have a 98 LS with 150,000 miles and an original factory alarm. Recently the battery has been going dead. Sears ran a test and said that when the alarm is not armed it's draining the battery. When the battery is armed it does not. Has anyone else experienced this problem on their MS? Any solutions. Is the alarm difficult to disconnect?

i dont think its the alarm itself thats draining the battery especially if its the factory alarm. I could be wrong but it could be an interior light on or something of that sort because most of them turn off when you arm the alarm. The only power being used for the alarm is for the LED light which is only milliamps.

i have the problem of my alarm is too sensitive. its the factory alarm, but it likes to trip when the wind blows too hard or a loud car drives by draining my battery. anyone know if this is fixable cause the guys at cartoys said you cant change the sensitivity, but i dont believe them

This is interesting, I thought I had a factory alarm, but I guess mine was installed seperately and there was not one on my truck? I also have a 98 LS. I have a sensitivty adjustment on my steering wheel shaft right above the pedals.
But, it sounds like you have a parasitic drain somewhere, when the vehicle is armed the part that is draining the battery might for some reason be shut off by the system.

Hey feathers, I don't want to hijack this thread but if the 1998 original alarm is like the 99 take a look up under the dash at the steering column. My 99 has a small black box fastened to the steering column. It has a very small white wheel on one edge that adjusts the shock sensor. Give it a try. If you want to talk more, lets go to pm or a separate thread.

I have a 2000 limited w/ factory alarm, but mine only goes off if you try to unlock the door without the key or if you open the hood while the car is locked. I have never set it off by bumping into it. Is there any way I can set it that way?
