I am thinking of replacing the spark plugs on my "00 MS 3.0 myself... they are tucked in there pretty good, anyone else done this? I am looking for feedback on the process, dealer wants $280 to do it and the parts are only about $100. I think I can do it but it looks like a lot of stuff has to come off to get to them.
Just wondering if it is worth trying or a real pain.

i think the only part that needs to be replaced is the plenum gasket. you'll have to take the intake manifold off. i got quoted 120 for labor. i could only get to 2 of the plugs so i'm takin it to the shop

I'm changing the plugs in my truck this weekend. I'll take pics and post them. Don't worry Joel, I am changing the wires too. All NGK. Cost for parts $137 (includes iridium spark plugs, wire set, gasket, and shipping).

Juancho, really looking forward for those pics. I think my MS needs a change of spark plugs. By the way, where did you order your accessories from (i.e. plugs, wires). I would really appreciate your effort if you would please provide a web address if you ordered online. Thanks, FB

So it does not look too bad??!! Did you need any special tools or new gaskets? Was it harder than you thought it would be? Thank you so much for the info by the way...it's nice to be able to learn from somone who just had to do it. thanks, Scott

oh also why the new wiring set? Do you notice a differance? They look like they are a neat blue though.

I didn't use any special tools, everything is 10mm or 12mm. I did put in a new gasket (cause I had ordered it), but if your careful, you won't need to change it. Mine were pretty good. It wasn't too bad, just time consuming. There's a lot of bolts, nuts, and screws to remove. I changed the cables just to be sure I wouldn't have any problems later on and have the do the work again. They are a cool blue. they are the NGK model RC-ME94 Stock 8806. the engine is a bit smoother but you can hardly tell the differance, my truck ran smooth before too. We'll see if MPG improves. I went with the Iridium instead of the Platinum because of longer change interval. Good luck with your change. Let us know how it went.
