Does anyone know where you can get a shift kit? im not looking for a the whole valve body, just the spring type. i looked on rpw but i didnt see anything, maybe i just wasn't looking right, i also did some searching to no avail.
i want my tranny to last and i already have a bigger cooler but its starting to slip anytime i pull anything, even if i have a full car, it will slip. so im going to rebuild it and put some better clutches in it but i still want it to shift better, nothing crazy, just something for longevity.
before anyone says that a shift kit will NOT make it last longer, just do me a favor and dont say anything. a little fyi, the factory transmission on anything that is auto does not shift at 100% line pressure and also allows the clutches to slip in order for a softer shift this is ok on anything that is factory and never makes anything more than stock hp or never pulls anything but as soon as you start upping the hp and pulling things often, it will start beating your tranny to death, trust me this is my 2nd tranny.

How about starting by telling us which trans you have. There is a DIY for the Aisin 30-43le(97-99Sport), where you enlarge an orifice to up the line pressure. If you have this trans check out the Supra boards, that's where I saw it. There is pretty good aftermarket support for these transmissions, anything from valve bodies to HD converters. If you have the newer Invecs trans(00-04Sport)You'll have to ask your trans guy to figure out how to increase line pressure, and there are no aftermarket goodies, except maybe a better T/C(I think cwic has one in his).

my bad, i should of said that. i have an 03, i thought that cwic had a different valve body too, maybe he could chime in! i know in the DSM world that you can get 100% line pressure shifts just by setting the solenoids to toggle switches and shifting the tranny that way, its pretty easy, has anyone tried anything like this? also, any tranny shops i talk to want to pull the tranny and look at it and figure something out to make it shift better all to the tune of $1000+, i dont have that kinda money for something that may or may not work, thats why i just want something simple, but i may end up biting the bullet on this one

Yes I got mine done at IPT. DSM has worked with them also. Ask for Ty.

Around 300 but dont quote me cause I paid someone to take it out and re-install it. Best bet is to call IPT and talk to Ty.

i called them and i talked to ty, he said that its 500 for the shift kit and 500 for the torque converter.

now that you say that it may have been closer to 4 for each. did that include shipping? If you are serious about the converter let me know . I should mention that I have a 3.5L

My understanding is the 00+ MS transmission is electronically controlled including the line pressure. IPT said the valve body mod may help but no guarantees.
I don't like the soft shifts. Plus when mine shifts from 2nd to 3rd it will shift and then a second later the RPMs drop another 250. It feels like the torque converter has a delayed lock up or the clutches slip. Has anyone else experienced this?

I know exactly what your talking about, mine does that only its much much worse. i think that probably the best bet would be to get the torque converter rebuilt and then do a toggle switch setup. i know that on dsm they do this and it makes the tranny shift at 100% line pressure, the down side is that it turns on the tranny light. its something that i would use for towing or at the track

I wonder if there is some way to trick the trans computer into increasing the line pressure. It would be nice to firm up the shifts. I'd really like my transmission to survive to 200k.

yeah you can use a toggle switch setup up, the only down side is your tranny light will come on but it allows you to **** at 100% line pressure, dsm's have been doing it for years
