i have a 98 montero sport ls with (i think) the regular stereo. it has 2 tweets and 4 door speakers i believe. im not sure if it has an amp, i think it does because when i took out the stereo i have a round black 8 pin conector in the back thats cannected to the HU. and when i took off the driverside door panel and took out a speaker there are 4 wires to each speaker. so it looks like it could have an amp but it dosent say infinity or anything on it anywhere. but im looking for a wireing harness for this..... any help would be great thanks! can anyone tell me what the 8 pin connector is for i was guessing it was the single cd i have.

My 98 is the same way. The 8 pin connector is for the CD player separate from the radio (not used with an after market CD player, at least in my case). The four wires on the door speakers in the front are two wires feed signal to the speakers and two wires go out to the tweeters. My 98 LS does not have an amp and sounds like it is the same system. I made my own harness for the speakers in the front with flat connectors on one end for the factory harness and solder the wires to the speakers on the other end. This way everything still works fine. I found the harness I got for my head unit at walmart of all places (universal import harness). I hope this helps you out some.

did your factory system sould like it was amplified... brecause mine sounds really good nice deep low bass and when i went to replace a door speaker with another speaker the stock one sounded tons better. so your saying you didnt use the 8 pin round plug on anything just left it off and used a malmart harness?

My stock speakers were so deteriorated that they just popped and had heavy distortion. Although, with the new speakers on the stock radio/ cd player the speakers sounded very nice. Good bass with nice highs and mids also. I think mitsu just made a nice stock cd player. Does your stock CD player have two separate harnesses on the back or three (not including the antenna)? I ask, because I may have got mixed up on the wires, sorry. Here are links to harnesses on for infinity systems and one without the infinity system. www.crutchfield.com/p_120707001/Receiver-Wire-Harness.htmlwww.crutchfield.com/p_120707003/Mitsubishi-Receiver-Wire-Harness.htmlAlso, this is what my stock CD player looks like from the front.

Alright, apparently from what I have read on here an easy way to identify the infinity system is there are speakers in the dash down towards the bottom of the dash by your knees. Sorry if I caused confusion.

I bought my harness from Best Buy, put in a kenwood deck and worked just fine. Double check your fuses and make sure you didn't blow any when you pullled the oem deck out. By the way, if you plan to put a high power system in your tero be sure to shield your wiring, I kept getting interference until I wrapped my wires in plastic wire wrap then electrical tape, then felt then aluminum tape, yeah it's alot but it works. Oh and if you need a high output alternator, look up the Fitzall220+ pushes 220amps at 1200rpm, available at powerbastards.com. I just wish I could put two in my tero. Pushing over 3500watts RMS, my chest feels like it's going to explode and I've already shattered 3 windows LOL. Have fun and use high quality rca cables.
