Ok I finally got another set of headlights to start my project. My plan is to take them apart remove the orange reflector and paint the dark grey piece, (that matches nothing on the ride), flat black, or gloss black or have it covered in carbon fiber. I was wondering who has done this DIY = www.monterosportonline.com/diy-ext3.html ? Did the inner large dark grey reflector look like it can be removed for easier painting? Anyone got an opinion?

it's been a few years since i did it. once you pull off the lens you have access to grey parts. it could be done. i was sorry i took the orange reflectors out though. The brightness has never been the same without the reflector. I was looking for LEDs but none had the daylight brightness i wanted. i settled on a super bright filament bulb that is chrome looking when not lit.

I'm still searching for a shop that will do a factory reseal, but my new debate is that inline4 does HID retrofits into the inside of 96-00 honda civic headlights, I'm debating about adding these and dpinting the grey part flat black or having it wrapped in carbon fiber. I think I will leave the orange piece out, but possibly buy a led bulb that shines on all sides, or use a rabrig or PIAA that is clear and has a high output.

I opened headlights by putting them in the oven for 3 min at 350 deg. I then installed bmw projectors with HID bulbs and bmw Halo eyes. I also added led turn signals inside. it can be done Attachments:

@kingmotorsport, that's tight.... what did you use to reseal them? I know I took my old civic headlights apart back in the day and they never seemed to seal right so they would get condensation in them.
