i put a CAI on my 98 2.4l, now once after under load you push the clutch in, idle drops down to about 300rpm and stalls, i just replaced the cat, reset ecm, it stalls at every light until a check engine light comes on, had a "catalyst" check engine light once before, and i have been having fuel ones lately. any ideas of maybe my IAC or TPS has crapped out? also the truck squeals at 3000rpm and falls on its face, maf has about 18" worth of pipe before the air travels through it so i know its not turbulence. im stumped thanks all

Sure its installed correctly? Any air leaks? Did you over oil the filter?

however my O2 sensor is white from carbon build up, i adjusted the idle set screw to have it idle at about 850-900 rpm, has a slight miss, fixed my oil leak issue however, now if i can figure out this damn CAI issue and check engine lights ill be golden

Hmm. Probably need to reset the idle screw. Playing with that probably messed up your iac and ecm. Try resetting the idle screw back where it was and reset your computer.

my CAI was too aggressive for this little 4 banger, i had a slight miss so i replaced distributor rotor, put the stock intake and box back on but left the cone filter on with maf adapter and it is sitting in the original box now, actually feels stronger but now im getting a check engine light for the TPS/pedal sensor Acircuit DTC, any idea how the hell to adjust that? and how can i resolve detonation in the 2.4l? you can hear it, sounds like beads in the header, may be bc i need a new exhaust manifold gasket however after i replace that ill check it out

i put it all back to stock, with air box, baffle tube and left the cone filter on the end and it runs alot better now, it had to have ben sucking up to much air and not enough fuel and causing that miss was a distributor rotor issue, replaced it, no more miss but im still gettting detonation, could be because of a header gasket leak i believe and i ran seafoam thru it and hopefully it will clear out that nasty carbon build up, the exhaust tip was black before i put a new tip on it was running that bad the whole exhaust smoked for an hour after running seafoam thru it

Check your timing with a timing light should be around 15deg. it will fluctuate +- 7deg under normal conditions. The idle adjust screw should only be adjusted while setting the ecm in SAS mode this will tell the ecm what the base idle is then the IAC will move to keep the idle there. could you be more specific as to what DTC's code you have?
