94" 3.5 Montero RS / 173,000 miles Just replaced front shocks because of severe rattleing and about 75% of the noise was eliminated but i still have a slight rapid rattle when running across rough pavement and freeway. Kinda like if you where driving across slight wash boards. Seems to transmit some through the steering wheel and driver side area! Any ideas where to look?

The rubber spacers/washers/whatevers in your swaybar endlinks are probably dried out/non existant so the swaybar is probably rattling on the endlinks. When you say the rattle transmits through the steering wheel are you talking about the sound or steering feedback? If its steering feedback, you could have two problems feeding each other... tires out of balance + a swaybar with bad endlinks could = a nice rattle in front and would explain any steering feedback/vibration you are feeling.

Check the skid plate, The foam tends to wear off and sometime it's loose. It cause a rattle on my MONTERO SPORT. Take it off and see what it does then...
