I was wondering what tint percentage to go on my 02 ms. i had a friend look at my truck and he said the factory looks like its a smoked on or something and not actually tint and i would have to put new tint over it. i really want 5% on my back and rear so people cannot see in at all. but i do need to see out enough . any suggestions? or truth to the whole factory being not tint thing? any advice or pictures of your tint would be appreciated btw I do want to tint them myself.

I will agree that factory tint isn't tint, you can see in just fine

I have 5% on everything except the driver and passenger windows which are 30%. Never really had any issues as far as driving at night. Makes the MS look a lot better as well.

You did it yourself? what brand did you buy? I bought some and it bubbled like the next day sorry it took me so long to reply ive been really busy. it takes time to do it right i wasted a pack on expiramenting. me and everyone i know use gila and its actually really good quality just make sure you scrape your windows with a razor blade before you put it on cause you will get a little peice of dust and ruin the whole tint. i have two air bubbles very small and you cant see them without looking real close but it happends it wasnt proffesional but its the best ive seen done without being pro. try it out you will save alot of money and be able to say you did it your self

doing it yourself is not hard. sometime you need an extra hand to keep the film from folding / flopping around. i was looking at a pro installer site and they said you can't judge a job from a foot away, but how does it look from 5 feet. like OC says, there will always be some small imperfection.

I am going to have to order some, I am thinking 5% but I am a little afraid because all the cops have a hard on for anyone with dark tint. My wife got pulled over for her tail lights being tinted.

probably not going to happen since it smoked safety glass. its probably embedded in the glass, tint over it and deal with 5 of the 7 windows being darker than 2

Does anyone know what brand and tint percentage can come close to matching the rear tint?
