Oh, thank you to "aidank" for the write up on how to remove the door panels. Saved me a little time figuring it out myself.

That looks pretty good, did you use the existing speaker mounts? I would change the Sony head unit out though, I have had my share of Sony head units and they have all crapped out on me. Also, what is the black thing underneath your radio? is it a storage box?

Thanks. I used the existing speaker mounts, but had to drill new holes for the new speakers. I'm not a huge fan of the head unit, but the stock one wasn't working and got this cheap as a quick fix. That's a storage area under the radio. Eventually I'd like to get a double din head unit which would eliminate that storage area.

What size speakers did you use?

original door speakers are 6 3/4" Most, if not all 6 1/2" round speakers will fit, but you will have to drill new mounting holes. Rich278's Montero does not appear to have the infinity system. the Infinity system also has a Tweeter at the top of the front door and a midrange in the dash, as well as the 6 3/4" door speaker being used as a sub woofer (even though its kind of small).

I used 6 1/2" in all four doors. Don't have the Infinity system, but I do have tweeters in the front doors. Not sure why, but I actually have two postive and two negative speaker wires running to the speakers in the front doors. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the tweeters, not sure though.

All Monty's are prewired for almost everything from the factory. the tweeter wires are directly connected to the dash speaker wires be hind those empty speaker holes. Thos speaker wires are probably live, too, even without the infinity system, they show as being connected to the radio harness.

you will need a door panel tool, or be very careful with a flat bladed screw driver. there is one screw in the "handle" at the bottom of the door on the right side, take that out. start by the window and pry apart, and work your way around. there are several panel fasteners all the way around, just be careful. it comes off like a regular door panel does.
