I got my Montero Sport in February of 2013. I paid nothing for the SUV but it needed a lot of work! Let me explain...
What she looked like the day I got her. Covered with salt
Very first thing I did was take off these very rusy step rails. I took one bolt off and the whole thing came down. The brackets weren't even attached to the rail
This part is a bit gross! The interior...
Drivers seat
Cup holder (I think the camera though it was disgusting it didn't want to focus)
Armrest and passenger seat
Back seat
That's as clean I got the back seat but its so much better!
Drivers seat has a big hole in it
The front seats never came clean and I got fed up so got a pair of seat covers and they look nice being they're from walmart
Now for engine repairs
When I got the MS there was no check engine light on at the time. I decided I wanted to plug in my OBD 2 scanner for the hell of it and this is what I got...
2 of the 4 o2 sensors were shot. Those 2 control fuel and I was getting 5 mpg!!!! The check engine light bulb was burned out. So while I was their I decided to change the cluster bulbs with something brighter and I put some LED bulbs in
I think it looks pretty darn good! A lot brighter at night!
After the oxygen sensors I did a crap don't of work. The biggest one was I was leaking oil everywhere and couldn't figure out why. I ruined my driveway and street with oil and found out that it was a cam seal and no leaks!!
A big list of everything I've done so far! Almost $2,100!
Changing the spark plugs was a compleat joke!
During the winter a guy slid through a stop sign and hit my MS, just my luck
Didn't do too much damage. Could of been worse! When I took it to get fixed the repairs were more than the car was worth so the insurance said it was totaled and I was pissed. So I had the dumba** who hit me pay to get the dent removed and a new mud guard. This is the result.
Looks better than what it was!
I have a old iPhone 3GS that I use to calculate my mpg with an app called dashcommand and it uses Bluetooth to my obd2 connector. It's extreamly accurate! You should give it a try!
As of now, she's running like brand new for 192,000 miles on her. Hasn't left me stranded (knock on wood) she's a good dependable truck for free and only putting in 2100 bucks into it. I still have a lot of work to put into my MS. I love this truck and I'm glad I came across it! There are a few little things I'm missing but I'm pretty sure you get the point lol
