Just so amazed this little piece of sensor can do so much on the engine's performance aside from making the cooling fan work....noticed better & smoother idling, acceleration & deceleration......plus a noticeable significant improvement on gas consumption.

Colted, I'm finally going to install the ECT sensor I bought... what's the procedure you used? I'm thinking I need to drain some of the coolant first, then coat the threads with some brand of sealant. Thx.

I didn't have to drain the coolant at all.....just wrenched out the bad one and put some anti-seize,then wrenched the new ECT back in.

Just so amazed this little piece of sensor can do so much on the engine's performance aside from making the cooling fan work....noticed better & smoother idling, acceleration & deceleration......plus a noticeable significant improvement on gas consumption. The ECT sensor is strongly tied into many functions in the '00-'05 PCM, including the A/C. The '97-'99, not so much. Glad you got it fixed finally. I've been trying to get this across in the Electric Fan threads. Inconsistent or wildly fluctuating ECT either caused by mechanicals or by a faulty sensor will play hell with the ECM/PCM on all years of Sports. Edward

Reviving this thread rather than starting a new one. My aux fan will come on as soon as I turn the AC on, but it will shortly turn off and never turn on again until I shut the rig off and restart it and turn the air on. I have already installed a new ECT, fuse, and swapped relays and still same issue. This is an annoying issue because the AC gets warm when on idle in hot weather but as soon as you start moving it cools off, which all makes sense do to airflow.

Did you already check that fuse on the side of the fuse box under the hood? There are two. One for compressor and one fore ac condensor fan. It often is overlooked. If so I would suspect your ac condensor fan might be telling you its done. Or you have wiring that needs attention somewhere.

I have not checked the second fuse, will do that when I get home. I will have to probe the relay socket and make sure that I am getting a signal to turn the fan on whenever the compressor kicks on. I just don't understand why it would kick on only once and then never again, if it were drawing a lot of current it should just blow the fuse rather than not turn at all.
