Yea ok thats it. Have to try and reset it. If you don't mind looking at the manual and the bracket. No rush though, more than likely would have to wait til after the holidays... or next spring when it warms up. As for the meter I'm not sure. Sometimes it reads right and sometimes it reads .2-.3 of a volt off. The difference in a fully charged battery and one that's at 70-80%. When I did the alt I charged the battery before putting it back in. Battery read 12.87 and the meter read 12.6. Granted you have to have the key on for the cig lighter socket to work, even then if I test at the battery or the amp hook ups, the multimeter I have reads higher. So I don't know. Will do. I completely zoned it this weekend. I've spent so much time the last couple months on the big Sport I didn't even pull the rear drive shaft so I could take it down to the shop and have the slip piece replaced. Needed a car break. Mmmmm. This may or may not be something. Based on my experience with the cig socket in the dash, there might be an issue getting the exact voltage from there. I got to thinking about it and I've seem some strange behavior plugging in inverters. The only thing I ever use it for is charging my cell/tablet and running my GPS. I do remember that long ago I tried to run a battery tester from the cig socket and it wouldn't work. I thought it was the tester, but now .... The most accurate reading is directly from the battery, of course. I don't have anyone to ask anymore at the dealership or I'd run it by them. Can you pull the voltage from the ECM/PCM and see what that says? Edward It's all good. Completely understandable. It's really no rush. Whenever you get some free car time. That's not a bad idea. Next time I have dash command up I'll check. Also, was gonna try it on the other two accessory ports and see if there is a difference. Might just be how its wired. Yea the inverter I have acts weird sometimes as well. Might just be that it's getting old. Fan on it makes a ton of noise. Been wanting to get one that connects directly to the battery but hasn't been high on the priority list.

Been wanting to get one that connects directly to the battery but hasn't been high on the priority list. Define 'weird'. I bought two inverters this spring. I took one back because I thought it wasn't working correctly. The second one works but does display odd behavior occasionally. I'm starting to think that our cig sockets don't maybe have the best wiring setup. I was figuring it was something screwed up with my wiring on my big Sport but now I'm wondering if this is something that affects all Sports. Edward

It probably is just the wiring like you suggested. It's a 400 watt inverter but it's never ran anything but phone chargers. Tried my laptop once that is only 60 watts and wouldn't work. However the inverter is old and think something was spilled on it which probably didn't help matters. Would like to mount one inside the console and running new wires from the battery then cut a hole for the fan and for the outlet or pop out the the cover for the heated seats.

I never got my 400w to work at all through the cig socket. It had a test to make sure it could use the power source and it'd come up with an error saying 'sorry, not a chance' and turn itself off. Inside the console is a bad place. Too much heat even if you did that. Edward

Hmm. Well back to the drawing board. Maybe a fan on either side for cross ventilation.

Hmm. Well back to the drawing board. Maybe a fan on either side for cross ventilation. Possibly. You have a problem with heat soak there. Fiddling with things means I frequently don't have a console installed. You'd be surprised how much heat comes through the tunnel from soaking up through the floor into the cab. And noise. Sigh. Mounting it on the floor means that heat will soak into the inverter. Uh, hence the term 'heat soak'. If you did do something like you're talking about, I'd strongly suggest making a bracket that mounted to the floor that you could then mount the inverter to. Kind of a flat upside down U bracket. Give 1" of space between the inverter and the floor. I know this might sound like overkill, but you really do get a LOT of heat build up inside the console during the summer. Also keep in mind that almost all our electronics come form China which means that quality isn't that great in the first place and applying the primary enemy of electronics, heat, to crappy quality electronics will drop the lifespan like a rock. RV/boat shops have ALWAYS stressed making sure you have adequate airflow and ventilation and making sure they're not located in high heat areas. Even small inverters make a lot of heat on their own. They've stressed not locating inverters in enclosed spaces and if they have to be that you need a LOT more space around the inverter than you would if it was mounted open-air. I was really surprised how warm my 70W gets with my Thinkpad T61P plugged in. Surprising. Edward

Thanks Edward. When I pull the console to see what I have to work with I will take this into consideration. I can always put it under the seat again. My plan was to do that so I could move the sub amp under one seat and place another amp for mids and highs under the other. Easier to move the sub alone for cargo than the sub and amp. Wish there was more room under the back the seats.

Wish there was more room under the back the seats. All the recommendation I've seen are for under either front seat, but I'm pretty sure that's more from a convenience perspective. Although, the box my 400W came in did recommend that and also stressed making sure there was plenty of clearance around it and adequate air flow. So, no stacking/stuffing stuff on top and around. The front seats on my big Sport are for frequently accessed and critical things like CB storage, winch controller, flashlight, 2-way radios, snatch block, tire air down kit and such. I wish there was under seat storage with the rear seat. I've been off and on trying to figure out where to mount mine that won't make me give up something. Not a lot of storage in the front of Sports. Edward

Yea space issue is an issue. Pondering coming up with a cooling setup and put both amps in the storage cubby in the back. I don't use the one the sub sits on so..... Maybe a piece of plexiglass with some LEDs. Need to find a decent 4ch that's very small though.
