Man this all sucks! That's why Edward and I stress taking it to the dealership. Its $$$$ but well worth it. Sent from my SM-N900V using proboards Sucks my only dealer is over an hour away... Cadillac just sells new ones. Not sure the GM techs there have a clue about mitsu. Almost feel like I would be better off taking it to Dodge! here is the latest drama regarding the shop trying to get out of the repair... msport97.proboards.com/thread/11163/opinions-tensioner-failure-shop-trying

For future repairs call around to local shops and see if they have a mitsu tech or mitsu specialist on hand.

Update: Here is where we started: So it looks like $568.67 is the damage... ugh! New cam seals, new crank seal, new belt... break down... Original deal: $315 labor + $319 OEM parts [- $84 (half tensioner)] = $568.67 hmmm labor for timing belt and 2 cam seals last time.... $235.00 3.3 hrs belt and .5 hours for seals = 3.8 @ 235.00 (roughly $60/hour) Sounds like I'm paying full price for the labor... Yes confirmed with the shop... full timing belt labor, but no additional for the tensioner... negotiations are underway... Full timing belt job: 3.3 hours 2 Cam seals: .5 hours Crank seal: .5 hours 4.3 hours This went down to $450.00 with me then paying full price for the parts, but no labor for anything except the seals... 1.6 hours... then a complementary oil change with my choice of oil... ok... someone thought it over and they opted to drop all labor charges. So right around $338.57... Wow.. I'm quite surprised! Guess when I told them they blew the budget for the civics clutch they got to thinking... That is to replace the tensioner, both cam seals, the crank seal, and the timing belt. Truck already has a new (one oil change) water pump, crank pulley and bolt... Soooo... That should have me covered for another 60,000 miles! whew! And hopefully my dang one quart per 700 mile oil loss is gone with it too!
