Interesting. Wonder if my engine was ever "lifted" in the past? Yikes.

I do not have one either as I recall,, engine lifting point you say? Yep. Below are images of the 2002 3.5L we swapped into my '97 LS 3.0L. One on the DR rear and one on the PS front. They look a little different on the Gen 1, but they're in the same location. Unless someone took them off at some point, they should be there. They weren't an 'option' - they are on all Montero, Montero Sport engines. AFAIK, they're on all Mitsu engines. Edward

Interesting. Wonder if my engine was ever "lifted" in the past? Yikes. Yea, they're there for a reason. 'Safe' points for pulling the engine or raising it up to do work underneath, replacing the engine mounts, etc. You don't want to simply slap a chain on a head or bracket bolt - good way to crack a head or bolt boss. This stuff usually gets left off when some shop does the head and timing stuff. Take it off to get to things and never put it back because its 'unneeded'. Really is just 'cause they're being lazy. This is the guy I am missing alright. Damn I've been discovering these missing parts ever since I bought this beast! Yep. That's the DR side one. Looks like the one that's on my '02 3.5L in the '97. That sucks. I have been REALLY lucky in that the shops that worked on my little '97 and the '99 before I got them seem to have put everything back. Unfortunately they didn't put it all back correctly, but at least its there. If its any consolation my entire family's been through this. I don't know how many muscle cars we've gone through where stuff was just left off after someone worked on it at some time. I went to great lengths to find a 'Vette that was completely stock and not tampered with and had all the correct parts - and STILL found some pieces missing a few months after I got it home. And those are cars that people really TRY to make sure they're exactly factory original. Edward

Thanks Ed, well I hope the vendor I ordered one from doesn't come back with "no longer available". Hate it when that happens.

I think I see a loop just left of your brake fluid reservoir!

Now i have to look and see if mine has one... is that it hiding? Pic from when we bought it PS one is the little 'ring' you can see in the picture just to the right of the power steering belt. The DR side one is just visible below the A/C hose and just slightly to the left of the brake master cylinder cap. You can just see it peaking out under there. BTW, I think you have the plastic shield for the battery flipped around 180 degrees. Edward

On my 3.5L 4WD AT I've seen that piece called an inlet manifold engine hanger and an inlet manifold stay.

It looks as if the intake would snap off from fatigue with that missing.

It looks as if the intake would snap off from fatigue with that missing. Don't know about that, but it is one piece and bolts to the head and the manifold. Edward
