The spare wheel deal was interesting. Some these days don't even come with a spare to "save fuel." You have to purchase them separate. Think the Kia Sorento is one of them. Think they just include a can of fix a flat.
I did notice a difference in radio reception after switching head units. I wanted to use the one in the rear window cause of the longer wire but couldn't find an antenna adapter that would work.
Thought the tint from the factory is actually tinted glass.

You're correct about the spare wheel. My optima SXL does not have a spare.

Think they just include a can of fix a flat. Yea, the spare thing is goofy. I just can't belive they'd sell you a spare tire that takes different lug nuts than the rims installed on the vehicle. Found that out the hard way when I got a flat on my '03 and couldn't put the spare on. The OEM heads - either the Infinity or the regular head - have excellent reception. The techs thought I was nuts when I replaced the original OEM head in my big Sport with a new OEM head. I kept telling them they had fantastic reception and that's why I wanted to keep the OEM head but they wouldn't believe me until they got it in. Made believers out of the techs that's for sure. The long wire from the console to the back was cheap. You can probably get that aftermarket. The Y isn't available from Mitsu, though, and I don't have any idea how that plugs together. Some vehicles are already pre-wired with the rear CD harness and the rear side glass antenna wire. My big Sport had the CD changer harness but not the antenna. I'm hoping the '99 has the antenna harness. Given that that thing is only like 2-3 options from having everything you could possibly put on a Sport I think it probably will. But, since I just said that .... I know the Mitsu film tint was for sure a dealer option and I think the tinted glass was also a dealer option. The tinted glass - and there were two tints - was definitely a factory option. My '97 dealership 'brochure' showed the film tint as a vehicle option, but of course they don't say where it might be applied at. I THINK the dealership installed the film tint on mine as I don't remember it being there when it was in the lot back in '98. But, that was a LONG time ago, so .... Edward

My 03 is a 2wd ES model. No extra options, just fender flares and the door moldings but the flares arent as wide as my bro's 01. And they dont have mitsu branding on the inside. It has the 3 spoke 16" wheels including spare;however the door sticker mentions 15" wheels. No cruise, no 60/40 back seat, no multi speed wipers. What I have noticed is that when doing one wheel peels the truck keeps moving and the lifted tire chirps in the dirt.

The Sport with the big color matched flares is the 'Wide' version. Not an actual model exactly, it's how they're designated in the FSMs. Edward

I would assume it was part of the off-road package, but can see it being on any 4x4 model? And which ones were color matched and which weren't. I have seen both at junk yards.

The LS came either way. I have two Wide LS M/Ts and my friend has a Narrow LS M/T. I don't think the ES ever had a 'wide' version. The XLS and Limited are all 'wide' in the Gen 1s. I think that's true of the Gen 2s, also. I don't remember what the option was. It was not the off road option, I believe it was a trim option. You could get either solid or two tone in the 'wide' version. I've never seen a two tone in 'narrow' however. Same with leather. Either cloth or leather on the wide, but I've only seen cloth on the narrow versions. The 'wide' flares and the 7x15 (gen 1) or 8x16 rims went together along with appropriate speedometer gears and larger tires. The rear hatch fascia changed, too, I think. Edward

Now I understand the narrow and wide I read once. Mine was solid black with black grille and headlight bezels. I did the 2 tone and chrome parts. Perhaps the previous owner got the 16" wheels and even got the spare one. All tires were 255/75 but I got 255/65 since they were cheaper haha. My bro's is an LS. Seems like it was solid white with black grille and bezels but the guy who sold it did the 2 tone paint. Both are 2wd 3.0, his also has the A/T button in the dash and the 16" 3 spoke wheels with matching spare.
I like the wide flares, but the narrow ones work better with stock rims. The tire sticks a bit to the outside. Are those flares mitsu or dealer added? I cant remember the brand they had stamped.

My first leather and it is great as it doesnt easily stain and wears better. 2-I got my MS new off the lot that way..xlt,lthr,sunroof,4xpkg infinity, widebody. 3-is there an option LS code sheet in the MS somewhere that will let me know if its LS or not?

Reading thread really brings up some interesting "options" these Sports came in. I wanted to get some information on my MS when I bought it and went to the local Mitsu dealer I buy my parts from to run the VIN. Its a 2000 XLS for sure and it has the "towing package" and I asked if it has a LSD and they said if it has the towing package it should have LSD. Well decided to check the good old way and lift the rear and rotate the tires to see if they spun the same direction...they didn't so I don't have LSD.
