Looks good. Nice wide stance now. I think you now need your flares and bars back on. Truck really looks bare now.

I'm thinking about the flat 3 inch rubber flare things that attach around the fender. The factory flares are broke. No running boards or bars are gonna go on. I'm looking into some rock sliders. I still need to do the suspension lift.

Whelp... I tried to get 33 12.5 R15 MTRs on her and couldn't get them to stop rubbing on the fenders. But I haven't put a suspension lift on it yet. I'm thinking on getting the Ironman one I saw, www.ironmansuspension.com. But I'm getting there. I went back to 31s so I can turn and clear. Edit: I forgot to tell you... Jay I got my monterosportonline.com decals on now.

My rims are American Racing white wagon wheels. The are 15X8s with 2 3/4 to 3 inches of back spacing. The wheels sit very far out of the wells. I'm currently working on a suspension lift and new tires. I hav 1/4 inch spacers on the front rotors to keep the rims off my calipers. The calipers only clear by about 1/2 inch. I traded a friend for the rims. But the are widely available at any tire dealer. Usually, they are about $40 to $60.

the iron man as I recall from a few years ago is just a new torsion bar up front and springs for the rear. The only way to fit a larger than "skinny" 33" tire up front is with a body lift or fender trimming. Granted, this is with stock rims. I have to give Mitsu credit for even allowing us a vehicle to run a skinny 33" tire at near stock suspension height. I'm working wtih a guy who may be able to make a custom body lift. I need to find out though if the isolaters for our rigs are the same all the way around and get the ID and OD of the isolaters. I'll probably go to a junk yard and buy one and verify. he can probably make a body lift kit with the bolts and everything for about $100. I'll see. I've got a lot I'm trying to figure out so I can build up the Sport right the first time through. Michael, I still LOVE your bumper and covet it. If it is ever stolen...come lookin' for me! j/k

So 15 inch rims will have room for the disks ? It seems it would be tight with 15 's . Did you have to open up the center to fit the hub ? BFG is the only tire company I know of that make a sweet offroad tire that is 33/11/16 . A great tire . On my jeep I run Truxis MT by Interco . If they had a slimer size I would be putting them on the MS , but they are 12.5 wide for larger tires . I run 10.5 x 31 on the jeep right now and VERY happy with them . On and off road a great tire . For my MS im looking at getting a offset black rim and 31x10.5 MT BFG at some point .

I run 33/10.5/15's on 15x8 black rockcrawlers w/3 and 3/4 inch backspacing and they accomodate brake calipers just fine. I have four wheel abs, as well.
And yes, you have to trim the fender.

I already have a 1 1/2 inch body lift on the truck. I will probably be going to the ironman lift. Their website advertises the torsion bars, springs and shocks. But if it doesn't have the shocks, I'll mix it with the OME. I do believe with the body lift and suspension lift I should get 33s on it. Because it'll be 4 inches of lift total. I have a bag of 3 inch body lift pucks in my garage off of a Toyota pick up. I cut them in half and used them for my body lift. If you read farther back in the thread, I give instructions on how to do it.

I got the 2 inch OME springs on the rear now! I adjusted the front torsion bars up front. My body now sits 21 inches off the ground in the rear and 20 inches in the front. I put a 285 75 R16 Cooper Discover AT, with 80 - 90% tread, on one of my factory rims. It doesn't rub at all during normal operation, so once I get some bump stops and put them back on, it shouldn't rub much at all. Pictures:

Michael, Looks good. Who made your front bumper? Didn't realize you were trying to fab up a body lift or I would have mentioned this before. www.4crawler.com has been making body lift kits for Montero's for quite some time. He uses 1/2" Grade 8 hardware and UHMW lift blocks. I'm sure w/ simply the # of body mount points and an idea on the stock body mount bolt lenghts, he could have made a set up for Sports as well (if he doesn't already). My set for my 89 2 door monty was ~$80

I used some 3 inch Toyota ones and cut them down and used them. My bumper was custom fabbed by Northern Extreme Customs. They are no longer in business, but Damien, who owned it, now works for Mountain Valley Customs. www.mvcustoms.com 570-217-7284. Ask for Rob or Damien. Tell them Michael Duell sent you. They are expert offroad builders, modifiers and anything else you can think of.

There we go. 285 75 R16s are on. They don't have a lot of tread left, but now I know they fit. Time to save my pennies, get the tranny fixed and get some MTs.

Props to the work you've done on your MS. Looks Great! I'm getting ready to do a 1 1/2" body lift on my Monty. Just want some clarification. You had no problems with power-steering hoses, master cylinder brake lines, and any other bits other than the fan shroud. Just would like some reassurance. Thanks -- Jason
