3.5s have a 9.5 Inch, 31 Spline rear axle. The front IFS's are the same for both. ARB is what I used to get this info. They ,ake a locker for the 9 inch, but none for the 9.5. I do remember someone saying that the 9.5 comes with 4.90 gears or something. Yes. With the larger diff for the 3.5L engines do have the "availability" of a 4.90:1 r&p gearset from MMSA but they never came with montero's or sports from the factory so you have to buy them from the dealer and have them installed... but they are available. correction, some of the later model 3.5's did come with the 4.90 gears as mine did. I understand what you're saying but you realize other's might find benefit in knowing that they may have certain gears right? I mean we're not here just to educate you alone are we?

well if you were so smart to be able to tell me things to educate me than your reading skills would be good enough to be able to see that i said its stupid to go on and on about what this and that has when you have something different. i said i only care about what i have and what i can do with mine and you should think the same. if you used your head thinking on what you have and not stupid crap you can get much more done to yours.....but then again i wouldnt know..... thanks for tryen but come back some other timesmart stuff.

This is the reality of asking questions on an internet forum. If you want individual attention, well you can start a separate thread or hire a mechanic.

Wait a second, i thought you weren't trying to come off as rude? You're posting in someone elses thread on a public forum and you're trying to tell people what their agenda should be? I would like to know what came in other models so that i know what to look for if i hit the junkyards or if i see one for sale somewhere. I would like to know what came in other models so i can upgrade my model as cheaply as possible. You might not care, but you've already pointed out that you're happy with your ignorance. Let the rest of us learn a thing or two.

thanks for ur imput blackedout . if uve learned all u can here please move on. Well, no, I don't mind giving him/her the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps a newbie to forums and how they work? Perhaps a hard day? Hey no kidding we've all been there and been sorry for something we did/said after the fact. Anyhow, FWIW, blackedout I'm a moderator on other Mitsu forums and I really hope you understand I was not trying to pick on you or anything just was surprised at your reaction to me answering other folks questions about gearing availability while on the same thread you were asking about other things. That is why I used the emoticon's I did when i first responded to you to "soften" what I was saying but maybe you didn't realize that. Regardless it's all cool and I hope you do continue to contribue here and ask questions on what you're unsure of.

Really? I hope he dies in a fire. I wonder if he/she is gone now or maybe just a bit embarassed since it was a pretty self centered complaint. I mean we're all entitled to ask and get answers to questions just as much as he/she is. Like I said he/she probably didn't realize it is all or probably had a crappy day/week and unwittingly tried to take it out on others on the forum.

To try and get my thread, somewhat, back on topic...
I bought a set of hood pins today. I messed up the latching mechanism on the hood, so it doesn't hold it down tight anymore. I'm gonna install them tonight and see how they work. I'll post pics when it's done.
