Put me on the list for a failed Manual Super Winch hub. Won't engage into 4WD, hex bolts to take it apart and examine are frozen. Great...

bd, what vehicle did you get ur aisin hubs from? I'm still trying to track down a set to rebuild and install. You were right about the rugged ridge(avm) hubs I ordered never came(even though the supplier said he had them in hand!) Saw some auto-lock style on a 89 'tero, but I didn't wanna get into that mess...Found an article talking about using the innerds from the autoloc, and taking outter hub from a toyota...any thoughts?

Some are interchangeable and some arent. I just happened upon mine on ebay. Bought them for 100 with shipping!! I got a ton of pics I need to upload them. I love the crap out of them. They are off of a full size montero.

Offroader, I would be interested in what exactly failed did the splines strip on the hub or did the bolts sheer? Im not saying ones better than the other but installing a manual hub puts one more gear or engagement point into play that is where the dog teeth lock the front wheel to the axle. anyway just wondering which point actually failed? I have never heard of that happening, also as to explain for all who is interested the 4wd system works like this when you shift to 4wd the transfer locks the front drive shaft to the output of the trans, then the front axle actuator locks the front axle to the drive shaft so when in 2wd mode your not driving the drive shaft or the diff. hope this helps

I know with mine I saw an increase in mpgs. Also my aisins don't unlock in reverse which helped A LOT this weekend! And I've heard they are tougher than autos. ?

I would note to keep your factory hub flanges. They can be the last resort if the hubs fail(doubt they will). Just in case...its not like they take up a lot of room...

the front wheels do not drag not even 5% the front vacuum actuator mounted on the front axle will disengage the front diff...so your wheels spin pretty free do this test yourself...lift your front end up and spin your right and left wheel, and you will see that there are connected trough the dif.... when you start the engine , the vacuum actuator will disengage the wheels and the wheels will spin independent

I haven't had to deal with the Mitsu axles in a LONG time so I'm fuzzy on what fits what. Edward www.4x4extremesports.com
