I know what the Montero gets stock but I'm trying to justify 32" or 33" Tires. Please do share your experience. I'll go first (obviously mine is stock): Engine: 3.5L Lift: None Tires: 31" Toyo AT Gas Mileage: 19.5 mpg (mixed driving) / Unknown Hwy Please use the above format.

I just put on some 265/75/16 Toyo's (32ish I believe) yesterday and will fill up the tank for the first time today. I'll report back in a tank full with the results. I had been using a 255/70/16 before that and getting between 16 and 16.5 mpg. I tend to drive it like a hot rod.

Engine: 3.5L Lift: None Tires: 32" Toyo AT (265/75/R16) Gas Mileage: 15
Just filled up for the first time with the new tires. I dropped from 16-16.5 down to 15. Not sure if it was just more city driving, or if it was the bigger tires. I'll update after a few more tank fulls.

I got 16 mpg in town or highway. Didn't matter.
2" lift and 255/85R16 BFG M/T tires with a Kargo Master roof rack.

Ugh. I just filled up again and only managed 14.5 mpg this time. All city driving, but I was driving like a granny most of the time to see if I could get the mpg up.
I think it's safe to say that the bigger tires hurt my fuel economy.

are we going by what the odometer says? in reality you have to compensate for more distance traveled with the larger tires on compared to what the odometer reads. in other words when you register 1 mile traveled, you have actually gone further w/ the larger tires on. i have 33's on mine, on my last highway trip i used the gps to calculate actual distance traveled then divided that by gallons used. i got a suprising 20.8mpg hwy (running a steady 70mph). before that i was coming up w/ around 16mpg based on the odometer.

My gas mileage dropped to 17 mixed / 19 hwy with the 32" Destination MT tires. Previously it was averaging 19 mixed / 22 hwy. There must be some tricks to improve the mileage.

Exactly what black98ls said. Is there a way that anybody has found that they are able to readjust their odometers?/speedometers? Mine dropped a bit too after increasing just about 1 inch in tire size. Which doesn't make sense. So I'll check out the mitsu dealer tomorrow about this question.

My gas mileage drop is attributed to increasing tire weight by over 20 lbs each and rolling resistance. I already calculated the gas mileage with the 6% difference from stock.

Cool, my tires are by far heavier compared to other 31x10.50x15's they have really thick side walls and just have a lot more packed into them.
