Just finished putting the valve covers and timing belt back on. And from the top You probably can't tell but those are 450cc low impedance fuel injectors installed with resistors to mimic our high impedance ones.

T, Where did yo source the cams? Also , did you consider adjustable cam gears. +1 and -3 seem to work well for the vr4. Cant wait till I get mine (vr4) back from the shop and can get my truck in for its rebuild. Good to see more progress on your project, would be great to see a dyno run or 0-60 vid. Clay Good to hear from you again Clay! I got the cams from realstreetperformance.com/ they were a pleasure to deal with and had the best deal. IPS was a close second. One step at a time Clay, I will definitely post vids as it comes together, but first i have got to get it back on the road!

Cooling is also a concern for me, if you guys ave any suggestions for my setup Ill appreciate it, once I have all my eggs in the basket, ill post detailed step by steps with the whole process like twood3006 did. I called a place I saw on the power block, maybe complete rod and custom, about building a radiator. Quoted me ~ 700 with fan and I would have to send in my radiator and give measurments to the fan so they knew how much room they had to work with if they were installing the fan. I have a spare rad but put it on hold till I ge the engine rebuilt. Clay For now, I just plan on running more fans to compensate, currently 3 fans, 1 stock and 2 auxiliary

Just finished my 2" bodylift to make more room and fit bigger tires. And the completed image: Everything went really smooth, the break lines in the front needed a little attention, and the fuel fill line too. Nothing needed replacement though and the body lift was soaked up by the extra length built into the Montero, just be careful, watch things and go slow!! This brings me to the next major move, engine installation. Currently scheduled for," I have no idea when, but really want it done!" lol. Oh well, so much to do, so little time!!!

Correction to my previous post. Performance Rod and Custon was the name for the new radiator with built in fans. T- did you end up getting the cam gears?

Correction to my previous post. Peerformance Rod and Custon was the mane for the new radiator with built in fans. T- did you end up getting the cam gears? Caly No I didn't, after buying the cams, I ran out of money. What do you think the benefits are to installing the cam gears? Do you think they are required? What kind of HP gain would you guess, say if I was making 300hp at the crank? Let me know your thoughts, Thanks, Ted

I will have to check with IPS on the gains they have recorded on the vr4.

Now that I think about it my vr will be getting tuned soon and I can have them do some pulls with stock cam setting and adjusted.

First test fit of the intercooler and upgraded supercharger. Close up: Alternate angle. Clay, did you get your VR4 running yet?

How did you make room on the pass side for that? I do not have the car back yet and am getting impatient. I am going to have them tune at straight up for boost and then with the cams adjusted. I will just be using a APEX-i NEO for a while but it should give you an idea. How much boost do you plan on running?

Customized air box and hood, I think you can see on page 5 of this post. Should still fit...should.
I am targeting the 8-10 psi range. The rule of thumb is for every .1" drop in pulley size you gain about 1 psi of boost. Went from a 3.8" to a 3.3" pulley, so I should see an increase of 5 psi, I was running a pretty consistent 5 psi max, which once peaked at 6 psi (I knew it hit 6 because I had the max psi set at 6 and it cut fuel as soon as it happened, it fell flat on it's face, lol.) I will probably loose a couple psi to the intercooler, that is why I say 8-10 psi.

T,
Your boost is what the VR4 had stock I think so that may be where they tune mine when it is ready for break in miles. Will keep you posted.

It has been awhile, too long and I do not have the car back yet. Had to move on from the apexi neo because I needed a new ECU so I went with the Chrome set up (refashable in real time 99 vr4 ECU)and a 3.5in ZO6 Maf. With that said they will not be changing much when they finally tune that car so I will probably not get a graph to compare the stock cam setting and the adjusted setting. T..how is the build going ?

Hey Cwic, How's it going? I have been really busy, but that's really nothing new, I am almost ready to put the engine back in, just waiting for a good weekend to get it done.
Since the last pictures I posted, I have added another pulley to tighten the belt around the Crank pulley and have the parts and pieces to add a recirculating blow off valve, all I lack is finishing, but the good news it's finally back on my radar to get it done again.
I also have some cosmetic issues with the hood and the pain on the roof, but it must run first. Hopefully in a month or so I will be running or be real close to it!
