and even with the heavy duty stuff I put on my 01 it still does not feel as secure as my 97 's though maybe if that fellow ever gets that bielstien hookup.... It'll improve, but its still just the difference between coils and leaf springs. In straight up and down movement - where the entire axle moves up and down in a straight line like when you lift the body by the frame on a lift - there's little difference between comparable suspensions. 'Comparable' being when comparing suspensions with similar amounts of travel, spring rate, etc. The instant travel between the left and right wheels begins to differ, axle and body movement begin to twist and shove the leaf springs out of aliment. In a way it forces the leafs to behave like torsion bars, except the point of rotation is in the center rather than at one end. The bigger the difference in articulation between the left and right tires, the more force is applied against the leaf springs. Its the same thing that happens with torsion bars when you hit a speed bump, twisting the torsion bars as the front end compresses. The affect is referred to a 'bind' and is what keeps a leaf spring suspension from performing as 'well' as a coil sprung suspension. 'Well' is in the eye of the beholder, of course. Its possible to build a coil suspension that will give 30"+ of travel but will be so unstable that its possible to roll the vehicle over on its side driving around on a flat asphalt parking lot. (I've actually seen this) Which is why you will see these ... Currie Enterprises - Antirock® Sway Bars... frequently installed on coil sprung vehicle. Not for street use, but for off road use to control body movement (CG change). I would never recommend pulling the sway bars off a coil sprung vehicle, even just the rear anti-roll bar, and especially not if it were going to see street use. Anti-roll bars get somewhat of a bad rap in the off road world that is for the most part unjustified, IMHO. I will be the first to admit that the majority seems to come from 'old guys' like me that have always and still do drive leaf vehicles where anti-roll bars tend to be redundant and can and do cause stability issues. In the current world of coil springs, however, they're an integral part of a stable, safe suspension. Edward

Where did you get your brake lines from? I want to order some brake lines but I don't know what the ends are etc. I know I want to lengthen them with the body and suspension lifts they are too short IMO. And would like to upgrade to a nice set of stainless steel lines.

Summit Racing has a zillion brake lines and is a good place to look for better quality brake hoses. That's where I got my last set from. Edward

Napa here makes them in store. Also any GOOD auto parts store makes them. The guy here has a whole machine shop and can do pretty much anything you can think of.

All mine are custom made so the only OEM piece are the brake fittings.

As long as you know what ends they'll do up any length you need. I went with Summit because the pricing was comparable and at the time I could get them quicker. Edward

@bd- Are you going to sell this kit when you do your SAS? (I know the post is old, but still doesn't hurt to ask.)
