actually you are in luck today my friend. there is a much better brake system for the montero sport. and right up your price range. www.teendriving.com/ carries them if you werent so busy being a teen getting an SUV (of all things) to 90mph and believing that you are going to stop in time to avoid a near miss or a stop sign thats ahead you are in for a real treat. concider yourself lucky that you didnt hit anything or anyone else hit you since you didnt make the stop sign either. you are driving a vehicle that weighs about 5000lbs its not going to stop like a porsche or an Audi RS6. in case you think that im just a dumb adult like all the other adults out there since there is no human smarter than a teen this link will make you aware of stopping distances required.... www.driveandstayalive.com/info%20section/stopping-distances.htmhope this info helps you selecting your new brakes... your brakes are probably ok thats if you are not stopping at moderate speeds then you have worn brakes and a simple trip to pep boys or something similar will score you some economical pads (giving that your rotors are fine) also remember that your truck might have ABS (mine does) and thus gives you a weird feeling at the pedal but you are actually still slowing down just not as hard as you would like.

I think if the kid wanted to get chewed out, he could have asked his mother, my brakes arent that great either, i just swapped out the pad s and that has helped a little bit

Well for one you could not be an idiot and take your off road intended SUV to 90mph. Secondly you could do a complete brake flush, rotor turn, and pad slap, but it looks like you would rather spend your money on loud boom boom stereo garbage. How would your parents, who I'm sure foot the bill for you for the car, react if they knew you drove like that? And don't pull the teenager excuse on me, because I'm 19. I'm just responsible enough to pay my own ****, and not take unneccesary risks. You wanna drive that fast? Go buy a rice burner and go to the track. EDIT: The brakes on the montero sport work just fine, I went from 70+ to dead stop on a wet freeway very quickly when there was an accident in the road. Maybe you need more time learing how to drive?

Did you light off your ABS? If not, either you weren't pushing hard enough, or you've got a problem that needs fixing. OTher than that, better braking is #1 tires/inflation, #2 pads/rotors, #3 suspension/shocks/weight transfer... none of which would out-perform a change of driver behavior...
A friend of mine and 2 of his buddies survived impact but burned trapped in the vehicle... sober, just dickin around... bad enough, but at least the crash did not involve a second vehicle. Entirely avoidable. THink.

I find it funny that everyone thinks because he was going 90 he must be a kid, you can search this site and find plenty of adults who drive their sports that fast on the daily. Plus adding a system to your car doesn't mean your a child either, just means you have good taste.
Sound like a playa hater to me.

im looking to not spend to much money also cause i am in highschool. i think thats why everyone is thinking hes a kid. either way he should do 2 things...one take a course on defensive driving and 2 get his brakes looked at just for crap and giggles. i know when i was in highschool i drove crazy at times. lol.

bottom line... it comes to being a responsible driver... if you are an adult or a teen DRIVER it involves more than key on and shifter to D and foot to the gas pedal stop... being a responsible driver does not end at the threshold of the doors at DMV it involves knowing your own capabilities as a driver as well as what your vehicles capabilities are... it seems like there is always a low performance driver at the controls of a high performance car and that is not a good match.
if you are a "good" driver you would know that if your brakes have been feeling "kinda mushy" then you have no business trying to achieve a land speed record and should probably get that problem corrected. there is no excuse for wreckless driving either from an adult and much less an inexperienced teen.

I suppose I am bias since I took my tero out to an icy, HUGE parking lot and practiced loss and regain of control, and basically tested out the capabilities of the car acceleration and braking etc etc before I even bought it. Then again I had a 200+hp volkswagen GTI that I peaked at 130mph in, but with 13.2" rotors and 4 piston brembos... I wasn't too worried about lack of stopping power. We're not trying to be mean, but use your head.

in broad daylight. There is a road about 20 miles out of town that is 4 miles long, grasslands on both sides, NO side roads, and rarely ever any other cars. Side by side racing isn't unheard of, but not recommended... even though you can basically see 2 miles ahead of you
