I had my truck dyno'd today and to see if there was anything the people at passen motorsports could do and here are the results. Max HP at 4800rpm was 164.8 at thr rear wheels(no manual locking hubs in front)(first run) the max torque was 200.3 at 3200rpm (but held out to 4500rpm)(second run) The tech's only advice was to get a blower.I don't know how much power I'm loosing in the drivetrain but there is no way I can justify getting the manual locking hubs with the way the weather is in Ohio, so I guess the only way to get more out of it is to get a blower (2K+) or try the ECU reprogram. I will try to do a 1/4 mile this week to see where that is. I wonder what the results would have been if I checked before I did any mods? Anyone want to find out just for kicks? Clay

I have a hks mas adaptor & exhaust. A k&n air filter and a spectre allum intake tube. I also put a air scoop next to the condensor that in theory brings cooler air into the blocked off area that my intake is in, through a tube that runs through my engine bay. Clay

So far my 0-60 averaged out to about 9.55 with a high of 9.89 and a low of 9.14 (10 times in all) Clay

s1ck, I ran 4, 1/4 miles and had an average time of 17.66 sec at a speed of 82mph(fastest). The time may actually be a little slower because i just had a friend hold up a cone and when he swung it downward he started the stopwatch and stopped it once I passed him. It was the best I could do short of a track, but it was a full (taped out) 1/4. What did u come up with and what type of engine and mods (if any) do u have. Clay

I bumped this to answer the 0-60 times post. Tony has been racing his truck with a 3.0 and is averaging 11.3 in the 1/8 mile at about 63 mph. I will be running my 3.5 when I get my throttle bodie back. Clay

cwic,
Thanks for they Dyno results man! Btw, your 3.5 is only getting around 165 HP? Thats what the 3.0 engine is supposed to be rated....shouldn't you be running around 190 or so? ...or am I missing something?
thanks

Usually there is a 15-20% drivetrain friction loss. So 165 is actually a good number. @ 20% friction loss, he's engin is producing 206HP.

Cwic, perhaps you can add some friction reduction additive and see if there is any increase.
Also, do you have any other dyno results from other SUVs (i.e. Explorers, 4runners, etc)? I'm curious how the MS compares to the "popular" SUVs.

I am running a synthetic blend for the engine but there is no synthetic for the 01's tranny and I havent messed around with the gear or diff oil yet cause I didnt think it would do that much. I may end up getting the locking hubs in the future.I have no dyno results for any other vehicles. I am trying to get a baseline for the 3.5 to see Just how much I've gained with the mods I have but my dumb *** friend ran his monty 109,000 miles with no t-belt or spark plug change so needless to say it is in the shop and we are hoping for a maricle. I will be doing another dyno run as soon as I get my intake back and throw the hi-flo cat on. Clay

Ok here are my new dyno results....170.3hp and 206.1 torque at the rear wheels. I got roughly 6 & 6 at the wheels. The temp in the shop was 21 degrees warmer from this run so there may be a little more of a gain in hp then what was shown in this run. It may seem like alot of hassle and money for 6hp but I think it will give the other mods i plan to do a bigger boost than they would on their own. The trials and tribulations are all part of the fun when it comes to doing something new to, and personalizing ur truck. Clay P.S. Jay or Joel when u get a chance can u move this topic to the performance board ?

manual hubs in ohio isn't so bad. i live in cincinnati and had manuals on my pathfinder for 3-4 years. you pretty much know when it's snowing out so you twist into 4x4. and the bonus with manuals, when you lock the hubs into 4x4 you can pretty much shift into 4x4 at any speed with no grind cuz the transfer case is already moving at speed. i don't know how much less friction thru the drive train you'll get, but it's a cheap mod for a few ponies. put'em on, you'll like it.

If your rig is a 2001+ model year, then you have a fully synthetic oil for the transmission fluid. not sure about the years before as I do not have one. I do know that the Mitsu stuff they use is fully synthetic.
I think it is compatible with Chryslers ATF+4 (I stress this as a BIG I think)
