Still like $2.12 - 2.20 DC area, which would be fine if politicians actually paid for gas...

ok.early xmas present. called the dealership yesterdat to cross refrence part #'s. the part # for 1 of the ms cam gears is the same as the part # for both of the eclipse 3L v6 cam gears. the other 1 is diff cuse the position sensor is mounted on it. so fidianza makes cam gears for the 3L eclipse. i will just have to have the sensor mounted on 1 of then and i can retard my timing 4 degres to get the power back in the 3k rpm range which will give me 200hp and 230ftlb torque. big prob solved. - the $. it is tough being a pioneer. clay

well this week i did some more mods but wont get any more dyno runs till after winter so i will have my chromes back on. found out they are no heavier than the stock wheel and tire eventhough the rim is bigger and wider. i finally put synthetics in the front and rear diff and in the transfer case along with a flexilite black magic electric fan. next i am going to install a tranny cooler from haydens. i will do a dyno run to see what those 3 mods have done together before i put the eclipse gears on. i dont expect much from the gear oil,fan and cooler . but when i get the gears in there should be a pretty good bump. when the weather breaks i will post results 4 everyone to see. clay

I would seriously question if you lose 10-20% in the driveline. If you convert hp to btu's, a 15% loss on 200hp is 30hp, or 76400btu's, which is the output of a fair sized furnace. You would melt the aluminum tranny case....

15% = ~75k btu per hour. Believe it or not, that's about what driveline losses are commonly estimated at, from the engineers to the tuners. Remember, you'd only lose the 30hp at redline (for a montero anyway, 200hp in your example), and yes, things will fail (fluids first - you'd have to run it at redline for an hour to make the 75,000btu) due to heat without lots of ways to get rid of it... radiators, coolers, air flowing over stuff. Just like my 90,000 btu furnace doesn't melt much aluminum in my house (and I try to keep it that way!).
So, if you make a 1000hp engine set up RWD, you have to plan on getting rid of a lot of heat in the driveline... or not use 1000hp for very long (like a drag racer).

yeah bydr. fast the #'s speak 4 themselves. the 1st dyno run i did was with intake and exhaust and it was down 30 hp and torque at the wheels from what the engine is rated at. dyno sheets are in the gallery under clays ride, check en out. clay

well i have the new dyno results. will sent graph to be posted in the gallery soon. i was a little worried about what i would see cause for a week or so after i got the cams in the engine was pinging on 87. also had some radiator probs but cant really tell if ithurt the engine.recap since the last run i have added synthetics to the transfer case and diffs, added a electric fan and bumped the screw on the mas, flush . also now running 91 octane. i only gained 1.5 ftlb torque and .5 hp at the wheels on my best run. but i have lost 5 &5 at 6200 rpms. no one is quite sure why. i belive backing the mas screw out is the reason my air to fuel is now .5 leaner and it may be possible that the engine would rather be richer at that high rpm, but that is just a guess as to why the curves have changed. the new curves are higher till just before the hp and torque cross. i dont feel like wasting the time and money tuning to get thet little bit back so i will leave it as is till i get the gears put in. guess using synthetics is mostly only good 4 wear and protection of ur parts. also the limiter 4 this vehicle is at 110mph according to the dyno. Cwic, any updates? Also, how has the turn back on the MAF screw affected power?
