Alright guys the mechanic says he's just completed the tap and Heli-coil, they are closing now so it'll be tomorrow before I can go and drive it home. One thing that concerns me though is that he said the bolt he had to use was a larger thread size and that it could only withstand about 120FT-Lbs and he put locktite on it. Tomorrow when I go to pick it up I'll get the exact thread/bolt size he used and perhaps I could get a better quality bolt? 120Ft-Lbs+Locktite makes me nervous.

What's the OEM torque specifications? Not guessing we need the EXACT specs. This could potentially cost you thousands of dollars and risk lives if it fails.

In my 97 manual it says 87 foot pounds for the crank sprocket bolt. BUT these also had a factory recall bumping them to 120? Foot pounds and replacing the bolt with a better one. My 01 3liter says. So that's inline with that recall...

Everywhere I've seen it's between 134-137 ft lbs or like in that picture above that pinstryper posted is 135 + or - 3 ft lbs. Pretty sure my 03 shop manual states the same. I think the 4 bangers were 87 ft lbs.

Sent from my SM-N900V using proboards I'm so dirt poor now I'll have to take that gamble. Once I get out to Florida and save up some money I'll have it properly done, in the mean time I'll just have to keep a close eye on it because I have no other choice.

The bolt will end up tightening more as time goes on which it may or may not be able to handle. The only thing that concerns me is the loss of power steering on the highway and or brakes if it ends up disabling the engine not to mention being stranded in the middle of nowhere with a severely disabled vehicle sorda kills the road trip vibe. 2,000 mile tow isn't cheap. Don't forget your cell phone, charger, and AAA card.

We will all be rooting for ya Nine. Thanks! Its 185nm on the November 2003 TSB i found online. You can call the dealership to see if their a more recent TSB. I talked to the mechanic today and he confirmed that he put 135Ft-Lbs on the bolt, He told me 120 the other day because that's what he remembered but he said today when met him at the shop that he used the torque spec I wrote on the box that held the HB, Bolt, and washer I gave him. Pretty cool that he actually read what I wrote on the box and actually went by it. Everything went well putting it all back together so I'm back on the road now and the engine runs so much smoother now that the timing has been set right. Edit: Oh and for those interested it cost me $235 for the whole thing.

The seats fold completely flat on the driver side if you need to make a bed. Pull the front seat all the way forward, pop out both headrest, the bottom of the backseat folds flat against the floor, then the back of the front seat folds back and is level with the back of the back seat when folded. Or something like that.

I'm assuming the first gen is the same with the seat deal. No reason to believe otherwise.

I guess they do fold completely flat in the first gen. The console gets in the way on mine unless I'm doing something wrong.
