Just gotta re-gap the pistons for durability under boost, get a t3 or so turbo, crank up the boost to about 12psi or have fun with lower psi and spray a bit of nitrous. Easy but kinda expensive. I have started saving up and hope to have some competition.

you see, my super detailed plans! relocate the battery to the back and stuff a turbo in it's place. then have one turbo feed an intercooler that runs in front and the other turbo can feed a top-mount intercooler then mix both with a y-pipe into the intake manifold. All the pipes will fit no problem AND you get to have a crazy hoodscoop like off a subaru wrx.

with as much room under the hood as the Montero Sport has, relocating a few items should be easy and should be easy to do a customer turbo. The engines are strong enough to take 12psi of boost as long as you can get the fuel there. Should be a-okay. I'd bet you coudl run 18psi of boost if you can reduce the compression a hair and get some good fuel. Intercooler and 3" exhaust and you'd be close to 300hp at the crank for sure with 18psi. What is it, like 7hp per psi of boost? 170ish stock at the crank plus 125 is about 295 at the crank. Should have been an option from the factory for the US market.

not quite strong enough for 12 psi right off the bat which is why you need to re-gap the pistons, so says "Rezlo" in his article about the 6g7* series engine. www.rezlo.com/Pages/Work/PortingEngine/6g72.htmlower comp is great but can be tricky to pull off. New pistons all together would be the way to go since you should be working with the rods as well. Lower compression piston and rod setup made out of high strength material, you can boost it to the moon and back. Then go with a super AFC or an on-board computer to tell your ECU to shut up and get some big ol' fuel injectors and pump. as for 7hp/psi... well this Rezlo guy got 325whp (fwd) from only 10 psi on his 3.0 6g72... and thats on a super charger. I bet you could get more from 10 psi with a turbo since you don't have as much belt hp loss.

Hey Spo, what do we get?? The 300whp trophy, I mean...
I got as far as a solid gold toilet plunger with like 300 mitsu diamonds on it... since it also is made to pressurize your plumbing, and would be more expensive than a Bentley...

OK now I'm jealous. I bought a house this year so I am on a tight budget which has regulated my dreams to small things like cams and reprograms. Guess I will have to start playing the lotto if I want to have a chance of keeping up with the pack. Clay

Joel can buy a small trophy or some ralliart gear ;D (we can all chip in with some paypal donations)
But... isn't 300 whp and the title of being the fastest montero sport in the world reward enough?

Silly amounts of time/money/effort need to be memorialized in an appropriately silly trophy! Besides, we haven't got there yet, so maybe motivation is the key? I've done some of the stupidest things in my life for a dollar bet...
Think the driveline will handle at least twice the torque? Opinions?

I plan to work my bum off this summer to afford these parts. Like 40 hour work week and 90% of the money goes toward the car (dont you worry, I am still young and paychecks are quite small, so you still have as much chance of finishing before me ). Thats IF the Dodge dealership finally hires me... Boost is bliss.
