*twitches* I cant wait to see how they work out. Time S-L-O-W-S down when you are waiting for parts. Turbo should arrive tomorrow.

Hey SPO, where did you get your exhaust work done? The duals look nice. Do the flowmasters sound good?
By the way the turbo is going to be insane on your truck. My props to you on trying it out!

I got the catback done at mineke back when they were running their $350 dual exhaust special. The flowmasters sound GREAT, but drones on the inside. If you are going to get something like flowmasters, I suggest some sound deadening material for the inside of your car.

Im thinking about installing an intake in my 2000 MS XLS. Have you had any problems with passing the state inspection with yours?

That must cost a pretty penny as i believe the heads need to come out to replace the cams.

oh, yeah... After a quote of around $10,000 for engine work: racing pistons, rods, balanced, ported, etc. I have decided to go ahead and swap the engine to
A: a smaller engine already capable of large boost. OR B: a larger engine that I can make turbo ready while it's out.
Like rotating an evo engine or stuffing a v-8 in there. I like option A so far due to mpg and space. Would like your opinions.

yeah the head needs to come out or the engine can be pulled. whatever seems eaiser. I got a hook up though and it is currently being done. Will only cost $600 and the t-belt/water pump is being done at the same time. I have just under 60k & the warranty will be up anyways so it seemed like the right time. Clay

Dude- you got an excellent price to have all that work done for only $600. I hope they do good work. I suggest that you use only factory parts all around including the MLS headgasket if they decide to pull the heads.
All of this should have been factored in during the planning stages of your attempted upgrade. A small engine is the last thing you'd want as it will make the MS virtually undrivable with anythong less than full boost. You'll get tired of it QUICK. A V8 or large V6 transplant would have been the way to go from day one- minus the turbos.

ah, yes. I'll see if the salvage yard has any 6g72s that I can rip apart and get it ready for enough boost with the stock pistons. Then I can swap it out and boost it all at once. Then sell the old engine. That way I know it'll fit and I'd have back up if something goes wrong. I just wanted the other engine so I could have a bov and not have to re-circulate the boost through the mass air flow sensor. I guess now the question would be keep it a 3.0 or search around for the 3.5? I'll search the salvage yards this weekend for a suitable engine with low(ish) miles. Now that I got the 350 in the truck, I have an engine stand and crane that I can use. I'll take some pictures at the salvage yards. I cant believe I even considered a 4-banger in my monty, thanks Joel.
